Where Do I Start on My Journey to Get Constipation Relief Part 1

Where Do I Start on My New Journey to Get Constipation Relief and Stop Constipation and Get Healthier at the same time:

If your constipation is caused by poor eating habits and it finally caught up with you and you are noticing your whole digestive tract slowly going downhill which is one of the causes of constipation for you, you may be wondering what to do, how to eat etc…

If your constipation is not in a serious stage you can start small by making little changes in your life slowly.  If however your constipation is critical and causing serious problems, please see your physician.  My tips and hints for these constipation remedies are what worked for me and good solid eating habits to make a part of your every day life.

Chronic constipation can be just a matter of having a difficult time defecating or not going to the bathroom often enough to be healthy.  I think it would be good to “poop” at least once a day.  Others say at least a few times per week but that doesn’t cut it for me.  If I skip a day I will become constipated.  Some naturopath’s believe you should go 3 times per day.  You need to figure out what works for you and then strive for that daily.

Set a Goal to Add at Least 1 of the Stop Constipation Hints Every Week or even Every Day

START BY DRINKING WATER:

One constipation relief hint came from my husband.  He needed to remind me to drink more water.  We all know drinking water is good for your health but I didn’t know if was so important to help stop chronic constipation.  Drinking a minimum of 64 ounces per day or 1/2 your weight in ounces plus 10 ounces if you are having a particularly difficult time.

Start increasing your water intake slowly if you just can’t handle it.  I was not a water drinker and I just didn’t see how I was ever going to be able to drink that much but as people said, you do get used to it and it isn’t all that hard.  I remember hearing Dr. Dobson on the Christian Radio Station say that and he was right, I did get used to it.

To make drinking your fluids more interesting, it would be OK to add a bit of juice, Clear Inulin Fiber such as Metamucil or Benefiber, lemon with stevia or EnergC to your drink or combine them all together.  It is really good.

I usually treat myself to my first bottle with some flavor and then the rest of the day plain water.  This really is one of the many remedies for constipation that is so easy to do, cheap and will impact your life incredibly.

Your skin will look better and more pliable and you will feel better.  I remember one day I was feeling so weak and realized how dehydrated I had become.  I drank water and very quickly felt better.  I try to strive to get at least 1 quart of liquids in by Noon and try to finish by 7 PM so I am not up all night going to the bathroom.

As a matter of fact, I am sitting here writing this with my bottle of 16 ounces of water, 4 ounces of orange juice, 1/2 packet of EnergC and just sipping away.

DRINK A FIBER PACKED FRUIT SMOOTHIE EVERY DAY:

You probably noticed that I am a HUGE advocate of drinking Fruit Smoothies every day.  That is because I can Pack in the Fiber to get constipation relief without even noticing it.  I will give you another one of my favorite Smoothie Recipes.

I really like the convenience of making it in the NutriBullet but you can also make it in a regular blender.  I broke so many blenders that I finally bought my favorite small appliance, the Vitamix.  It is expensive but lasts and lasts and you can even make healthy ice cream and hot soups, grind up grains etc…  I will write more about that machine on another post.

For me, I find that eating fruits is one of my top constipation treatments.  I really don’t like it when I am not able to make my smoothie and I will often then have to compensate with something else or get constipated if I don’t.  Papaya is a great way to stop constipation.  I thought eating Prunes was like dates but it is not.

They looked so gross to me and people said just try them because they truly will contribute to giving you constipation relief.  They are dried plums and taste pretty good.  Here is another neat idea for you to kick up your prune flavor.  Cut them into tiny pieces and drizzle them with Fresh Lemon Juice.

Now prunes taste really good when I prepare them like this.  So, please eat your fruit.  It is like dessert to me now.  While eating my lush Blackberries the other night, I told my husband that these are a Gift from God.  I savored each one.

Let’s continue this tomorrow with more hints to start out slowly on ”Where Do I Start on My Journey to Stop Constipation.”
